Letter 4 - Task 9 and 10

Hello Again,

This is from a site called Hero Machine, which I had already used prior to this activity. It allows you to create your own superhero with a great amount of detail from skin tone to costumes to weapons to background. Check it Out! (link below picture)

Library Thing is a great tool for cataloging your favorite books. I could see the library using this to have favorites lists for all the librarians and other staff members and having a public terminal available for patrons to look at our reccomendations. I have added a few of my favorite books, but I will probably go back as I have a lot more to add. Feel free to take a look at my catalog: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/The_Mailman.

Letter 3 - Tasks 7 and 8 - RSS Feeds

Hello again,

Since I don't have an RCLS e-mail account, I have now signed up for Bloglines and have added several feeds. I ran into a slight problem in that when I signed up with my AOL e-mail account, I was not recieving the confirmation e-mails. I finally switched over to my other e-mail account (from my college) and it worked just fine.

I find that RSS feeds are very useful in providing large amounts of information in one area. I can see why they are becoming so popular. I could see libraries using these to keep track of book release dates, publishers information, and to read te blogs of other librarians for opinions on library matters.

I found that the easiest way to find feeds to add is through the search feature provided on the bloglines site. They have feed reccomendations for every taste and ading is as easy as one click. I am going to try to keep track of my feeds and perhaps this tool will make my life easier.

Letter One - 7.5 Habits of Successful Lifelong Learners

Hello Everyone,

I have just created this blog for NFL Learns 2.0 and it's pretty cool. I've never had a blog before, so it's really interesting to see how this whole thing works.

As for the 7 and a half habits, I think that the easiest habit for me is habit three, seeing problems as challanges. Anyone who knows me knows that I view problems as challanges and that I don't give up until these challenges are overcome (or these problems are solved, depending on how your looking at it). My hardest is probably habit 4, having confidence in myself as a learner. I tend to feel frustrated if I don't know as much as someone else, or if im trying to learn and just not understanding it. I hope to make myself stronger in this respect with this online learning expirence.

Also, while blogging is new to me, it isn't as excting as the prospect of podcasting. I think that's the part I'm looking foward to the most.

Well, thats it for now!
Please place all outgoing letters and parcels in the appropriate bins!
